We received hundreds of applications for Christmas gifts this year. While we wish we could have helped every family, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve as many individuals as possible. Our hope is that, with continued community support, our 2026 Christmas Giveback will allow us to reach even more families in need.
If you would like to support future givebacks, volunteer, or partner with us, we welcome your involvement as we continue building hope and impact in our community.

Our first year hosting the Thanksgiving Giveback was truly a blessing.
With only a handful of volunteers and our Executive Director driving over 700 miles in just 2 days to deliver meals, we made it happen!
Building Up The Community (BUTC) received over 500 applications from families requesting meals, groceries, or grocery gift cards. Selecting who to help wasn’t easy. The need is great, but thanks to your donations and support, we were able to bless over 100 people this Thanksgiving with a warm meal and/or a grocery gift card.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and shared our mission.
This is only the beginning!! Next year, we’ll reach even more families.
Every year, Building Up The Community (BUTC) partners with a local organization to ensure students are prepared to start the school year strong.
This year, we helped over 400 students receive supplies, in addition to providing an extra 100 students at KIPP High School with school supplies and hygiene items.
Where There Is Hope There Is A Way
Thank you all for volunteering your time and your food donations.
We fed 100 of our friends. Passed out resources and hygiene products.

We provided meals to 100 of our friends and distributed 100 hygiene bags, ensuring no one was left behind. This event was unique as we traveled through downtown, Midtown, and Third Ward to reach our friends who may not have been able to make it to Riesner. By meeting them where they are, we extended care and compassion to those who needed it most in our community.
This is what it is all about!
Every year the impact will be greater.
This was so much fun. We were able to introduce BUTC Texas to the community. Help the children prepare for back to school and build some great relationships with other organizations.
This is where is all started for Teen Money Talk Financial Literacy Workshops!
We just keep growing and making an impact on teens in many different states!
We launched Feed The Friends in Atlanta and Teen Money Talk. While bringing the Mental Health Program to life.
Preparing the teens for adulthood!

Teen Money Talk had a great turn out. We had over 20 teens ATTENDED!
Our first event is Houston(Katy) was May 18th 2024. May 16th there was a tornado and bad storm to hit Houston & surrounding areas. A lot of people and businesses were without power including our executive director. The venue where the workshop was being held had power. So of course our team showed up & the teens had a great time!

We were able to pass out school supplies to over 300 kids! We met some amazing people. Formed some partnerships and were able to get more resources for our target population. We look forward to the next one in 2025!

On December 14th we launched our first Feed The Friends event in Houston Texas. It was held outside at 61 Riesner St in front of the municipal court building. We were able to feed and pass out personal hygiene bags to over 60 of our friends.
