We provide culturally sensitive services, such as affordable mental health therapy, youth financial literacy mentorship, and essential support like meals and basic needs, to help bridge inequalities and empower community members toward a stable and fulfilling life.

Building Up The Community Inc. is a 501c3 charitable organization registered in Texas, Georgia and Indiana. We welcome everyone to our services and programs. We are strongly committed to helping Black and Brown communities by providing personalized support that addresses inequalities and respects their cultural backgrounds.

Giving Tuesday is December 3rd, one of the largest global giving days for nonprofits. This year, our goal is to raise $30,000 to make an even greater impact in 2025. Your tax-deductible donation directly supports the communities we serve. Will you help us reach our goal?
Feed The Friends Initiative Houston
Our goal is to serve 100 meals each month to the unhoused and those in need. Our first Houston event will be on December 14th, location to be announced. We’re seeking donations in the form of funds, gift cards, supplies, blankets, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene products, and volunteers.

We understand how important it is for students to have the supplies they need to start the school year strong. But what happens when they run out and need more? In addition to our annual back-to-school supply drive, we keep extra supplies on hand to support families throughout the year.

To qualify, you must receive one of the following:
- SNAP/Food Stamps
- Section 8
- VA Benefits
- Medicaid
- SSI
You may also qualify based on your income.
Required documents:
- A valid, unexpired driver's license, state ID, or passport
- One of the following: Prior year's W-2, SSA-1099 form, 1040A tax form, or a current statement of benefits or award letter from Social Security or the Veterans Administration. (No screenshots, no exceptions.)
All applications must be completed in person by appointment. Our office is located in the 77040 zip code. If we're attending events, our website will be updated with the event's time and location.

It Was A Time!
We were able to pass out school supplies to over 300 kids! We met some amazing people. Formed some partnerships and were able to get more resources for our target population. We look forward to the next one!

Teen Money Talk Had a Great Turn out Over 20 Teens ATTEND
We had our first event is Houston(Katy) May 18th. May 16th there was a tornado and bad storm to hit Houston & surrounding areas. A lot of people businesses were without power including our executive director. The venue where the workshop was being held had power. Our team showed up & the teens had a great time!
